Antenna Meter

For the antenna to work perfectly, you need to adjust it after installation so that reception is always good. If the antenna is knocked out by a storm, you will need to readjust it to ensure that reception is perfect again. There are two ways to do this. One way is to use the signal level meter on the indoor unit, and the other is to use the antenna adjustment instrument. If you need a professional picture and sound, the only solution is to use an antenna tuner. Because it allows us to do this quickly and efficiently. Read more...

Which antenna tuner to choose?

In principle, all antenna tuners do the same thing. It helps to fine-tune the antenna. An antenna tuner measures the strength of the reception and displays it in analogue or digital form. But which one do you choose? Both versions do the job properly and both antenna tuners give the best possible results. For both instruments, it is important to know how to use them.

A good digital antenna tuner will automatically refine the measurement range, while analogue instruments have manual attenuation. Digital antenna meters, for example, may have a display that even shows the channels that have been found, or they may have satellite detection that can tell which satellite has been found.

Where should I connect the antenna tuner?

Once the antenna is installed, the next step is to set it up. As mentioned above, this can be done professionally by using an antenna adjustment instrument. The instrument must be connected to the LNB head. This is the best way to detect the signal coming from the antenna.

If the signal strength is sufficient, the adjuster will also give an audible signal. Then all you have to do is point the antenna in the direction of the satellite. Of course, this sounds very easy, but it does require some skill to use. Therefore, if you don't want to spend several days learning how to use the instrument, ask for help.

Why choose an analogue antenna tuner?

If you decide that an analogue antenna tuner with a real-time angle calculator and very fast spectrum and DiseqC Monitor support is sufficient for you, you will be able to tune DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-T, DVB-T2, DVB-C, DVB-C2 satellite receivers. Choose a unit that also has LNB short circuit protection and protection, as well as extremely fast and accurate high sensitivity.

If possible, choose a device with a clearly visible and colour LCD display showing the measured values, which can be downloaded via a database USB port. But also make sure that the instrument you choose has an ultra-long standby time and low power consumption. This allows us to adjust the antenna without interruption.

What features of a digital antenna tuner guarantee good reception?

If you choose a digital antenna tuner, make sure it has a built-in compass and satellite locator. Choose an instrument with a large AMOLED colour display for good data visibility. Of course, the digital versions also have LNB short-circuit protection and indication. If possible, use an instrument that is capable of decoding MPEG4, MPEG4-AVC/H.264 and H.265/HEVC High Tier@ Level 4.1, MPEG2 ISO/IEC 13818-2 MP@HL/ML ISO/IEC 13818-2 video, and MPEG1, MPEG2 ISO/IEC 13818-3 LAYER I&II audio. Also when using a digital antenna tuner, it is important that it indicates when the correct signal strength is found by a signal lock or an audible alert.

To make your work easier, make sure that the instrument is equipped with a USB port for firmware updates and data logging. Since good work takes time, the adjustment instrument you choose should have a long standby time to guarantee a successful antenna adjustment. Therefore, only a device that does not need frequent charging due to its low power consumption should be considered.
