Battery Guard
There comes a time in every car owner's life when the battery lets us down. It always dies at the worst possible moment, and that's when you start scrambling and searching for help. If you want to avoid this annoying situation, a battery guard can help you keep your battery charged. A battery guard is an external device that can be connected to your batteries and can be pre-programmed to protect your batteries from running down completely. Read more...

What is the purpose of a battery guard?
Using a battery guard provides two important functions at the same time. Firstly, these reliable battery devices monitor the battery voltage continuously. This way, you will always be aware of the battery's charge and current status, which will help you avoid unexpected discharges. However, if you carelessly leave a consumer draining your battery on, another useful feature of the battery guard comes into play. If the battery charge drops to a level that reaches a pre-set value, the battery guard will immediately disconnect the battery chargers. As this value is always programmed on the battery guard by us, the users, we can be sure that there is always enough voltage left in the battery to guarantee that our car will start. There are also versions with timers that automatically stop the car for a set period of time after the ignition is switched off.
The battery guard also extends the life of the battery. If the lead-acid battery is completely discharged, the cells can be damaged, which significantly shortens the battery life. With these devices, this kind of battery damage can be avoided, as the programmable disconnection means that the charge will never be completely discharged.
What characterises our battery guard products
The Alfatronix products available from DND can be used not only in cars, but also in buses and trucks, or even on boats, and they also perform perfectly when connected to mobile communication devices and industrial equipment. Each of the ten products in the range is available with a lifetime warranty and additional services to facilitate installation. Alfatronix battery guards also offer a host of extra features to help you keep your battery safe and predictable:
- Their compact design makes them robust, resulting in an extremely low failure rate. Thanks to the surface-mounted circuit technology, it is resistant to shock and vibration. The IP65 certification ensures protection against dust and water.
- Full circuit protection against overvoltage, short circuit and overheating. Low heat generation means it can be installed in small, confined spaces.
- Switch terminal allows the battery guard to be controlled by ignition or manual switch. In addition, some models have the option of incorporating an override switch, which allows the battery guard to be overridden for a period of 4 minutes.
- The devices are equipped with a built-in alarm output that will be activated when the voltage reaches a specified lower threshold for at least 10 seconds. It will then emit an audible and visible signal to alert the operator of the current problem.
- All models have pre-programmed voltage levels, with higher and lower disconnect voltages, allowing quick and easy operation.
The Alfatronix PowerTector Battery Guard is a reliable battery-powered device that monitors the source voltage and disconnects the device from the battery when the voltage drops below a predetermined level. This ensures that there is always enough voltage left in the battery to start the vehicle's engine or provide power for other critical applications. Completely discharging a lead-acid battery can also damage cells, significantly shortening battery life. The PowerTector can also be set to turn off equipment at a lower voltage, which will continue to protect the battery from full discharge while allowing maximum use of the battery. There is also a timed version that automatically shuts off for a set period of time after the ignition is switched off. In terms of types, they are available up to a flow current of 10-200A and also have an alarm output.
