The Hungarian standard stipulates that the blue supplementary light signal may only be used in conjunction with the primary signal. When installing it, the regulations and the rules for its operation must be taken into account. The purpose of using these supplementary blue and red indicators is to increase the visibility of the vehicle using the distinctive sign.

Types of Blue and Red Perimeter Lights

Blue and red auxiliary lights can be used for 12-24V DC systems, depending on the type of vehicle. The auxiliary flasher is also available in red, yellow or white, which provides better visibility in certain conditions. The blue auxiliary light signals require compliance with the R65 and R10 standards for placing on the market, which covers colour co-ordination and electromagnetic compatibility. The latter ensures that the device is adapted to and does not interfere with the vehicle's electrical system. Typical applications for blue and red auxiliary light signals include trucks, special bodies and large vehicles.

Multicolor LED light bridges are now available, which means that 2 to 3 or 4 colors can be displayed within the light body. This design allows the vehicle using the distinctive markings to give a warning signal where appropriate or possibly provide area illumination by switching on the white light. The pattern of the supplementary flasher often includes pre-programmed timings that can be selected by the user or installer, taking into account the country's regulations.

How to install the blue Perimeter Lights

Manufacturers use different headlight lenses and mirrors to increase the light output, and offer different mounting methods (screw, bonded or auxiliary bracket mounting), but in most cases, car-specific mounting brackets are required. To control more than two lamps together, synchronisation options are provided with the possibility to set different flashing effects. They can even be integrated into the vehicle's headlamp housing, so you can use these additional flashing devices inconspicuously without anyone noticing that it is an indiscriminate, i.e. covered, vehicle.

Considering the customer's needs, there are many ways to install the auxiliary flasher, such as: behind the grille, behind the windscreen (also known as windscreen flasher), behind the rear and side windows, on the rear-view mirror, in the door, on the door sill or on the boot.
