BNC Connector (50 Ohm)
A BNC connector is a small plug used for coaxial cables. From a mounting point of view, two different BNC connectors are distinguished, one is the crimp BNC connector and the other is the mountable BNC connector, also known as the solderable BNC connector. For the first type you will need crimping pliers and for the second you will need a soldering iron. But based on their shape, there is the traditional one, which has a straight shape or the 90 degree connector. But you can also choose BNC connectors with a built-in socket. These types of sockets are used to connect to PCBs, which are used when you want to integrate them into an electronic device. PCB stands for printed circuit board. Read more...

What does BNC stand for?
This English designation is a compound of the initial letters of the words Bayonet Neill-Concelman. Because this type of connector was created by Paul Neill and Carl Concelman, who invented several other connectors. The type was introduced in the 1940s for use in military radio equipment and has been widely used ever since, for example in radio systems, but is also very common as a video connector.
Which 50 ohm BNC connector to choose?
These BNC connectors are mainly used for HF, VHF or UHF bands. Their insulation is made of Teflon and they are mostly used for RG-174 or RG-316 cables. If you do not want to solder, choose a crimpable 50 ohm BNC connector.
When to choose a 50 ohm BNC connector?
These types of connectors are mainly used for various measuring instruments and/or amplifiers. If you need a plug that excels in signal amplification, you should choose the 50 ohm versions, which are used up to 4 Ghz and below 500 V. The 50 ohm BNC plug is used primarily for analog video signal transmission.
