How does a cable drum work?
When it comes to cable drums, the most important thing is that they are safe. Another important detail is to choose a branded version, because with such cable drums you can be sure that they are made of quality materials. In this case, we can be sure that we can unwind the cable from the cable drum without any problems. It really works like an extension cord, but in this case you have 25, 40 or even 50 metres of wire at your disposal. When winding the cable onto the drum, you only have to take care that the cable is not accidentally broken.
What types of cable drums are there?
These types of devices fall into two categories. You can choose between indoor and outdoor versions. It is important to use only the right type of cable drum. Otherwise, it can quickly break down and cause injury.
What to look out for when buying a cable drum?
Choose a type that is made of tough material so that it does not break easily. You can choose a metal or plastic version. A plastic cable drum is easier to transport, but you should still choose one made of impact-resistant plastic. It will not break if the cable drum is knocked over or accidentally kicked. But also make sure you buy a version that fits your hand well. This makes it easier to work with.
The cable drums usually have four sockets on the side and are insulated with PVC. The length of the cable is not the last consideration either, so make sure you choose one that is the right length. If the wire is too short, you won't be able to use it, but if it is too long, you may fall over in the excess wire. One more thing to look out for is that the cable drum has a thermal cut-out fuse.
