Nowadays, the cars that are stolen are mainly those that are very popular, so their parts are sold, as criminal groups do not sell the car itself, but its parts. But high-value cars are also a favourite target for thieves, because there are countries where they are in high demand. Today's modern car alarms protect against these acts by warning of car break-ins or theft.

Which car alarm to choose?

Siren alarm systems are increasingly being replaced by GPS trackers, but they still offer adequate protection. Car alarms with sirens have the advantage that the one thing thieves don't want is to get caught. So, if a car goes off somewhere and there's a suspicious character lurking around, that greatly increases the risk of getting caught. That's why criminals prefer to choose a car that they can break into quietly, without making a sound.

And if there is a suspicious person around, it's a good chance of being caught.

The car alarm's motion sensor detects movement and triggers a loud 110 dB alarm to deter potential thieves. It's worth knowing that sound above 85 dB is disturbing to the human ear, which means that everyone will be alarmed. However, if you are storing your vehicle in a less busy area, the siren version may not be the best choice.

The other solution is to track the movement of your car even after it has been stolen, so that special police units can easily track down your vehicle. But don't think that car alarms are only for cars. You can also use car alarms for trucks, caravans and boats.

What should you look out for when buying a car alarm?

Most car alarms use GPS to locate your car. When the vehicle leaves a certain area, the alarm is activated, but it can also be silent. In this case, the device will alert us and we will be notified via an app or SMS or email that the vehicle is in motion. So if you choose such a car alarm, make sure you choose a communication channel that you can receive at any time.

But there are alarm systems that use motion sensors or ultrasonic sensors. These types of devices activate headlights, horns, central locking or sirens when triggered, so you can set them if they have this function. Some car alarms also block the starter, so the car cannot be started. But this still makes the vehicle stealable, as thieves will then put your four-wheeler on a trailer. Some systems also offer anti-theft protection, so if you have a special or expensive alloy wheel on your car, it's worth choosing a device that also monitors the movement of this car part.

Let's not forget that professional car thieves will take the car they have chosen, it's just a matter of time. They usually have a high level of technical knowledge. That's why it's best to choose a car alarm that includes several functions.
