Caravan Air Conditioner

There are huge benefits to retrofitting vehicle air conditioning. Whether it is installed in the cab of a truck or in a motorhome. A motorhome is a great adventure for the whole family. And for truckers, the passenger compartment is a four-wheeled apartment on wheels. Both make us completely self-sufficient. Read more...

Which retrofit RV Air Conditioners system to choose?

This depends largely on the size of the caravan or truck's passenger compartment. In this case, one of the most important questions is the size of the space where the roof air conditioner will be used, and also how many people will be travelling in it. Depending on the number of passengers, the roof air conditioner will operate for longer and more often. The type of retrofit vehicle air conditioning you choose depends on how much you want to cool the area.

But in the case of motorhomes, we also have to take into account the fact that we regularly cook and shower in the vehicle. In this case, an under-seat air conditioner is not enough. In this case, we need a compressor air conditioning system, which is usually installed on the roof by professionals.

This parking cooler effectively removes moisture from the inside of the vehicle. There is one more thing we need to decide! Is it important to cool the whole vehicle or just to keep it at a comfortable temperature while driving? In this case, an under-seat mobile air conditioner is the perfect choice.

How is the installation process for a RV Air Conditioners?

One of the most common solutions used by professionals for motorhomes and trucks is to install the vehicle air conditioning in the place of the roof window. If there is no roof window on the car, the air conditioning system is retrofitted above the cab in the case of trucks and in the geometric centre of the interior in the case of motorhomes. If there is no skylight that can be removed by a professional, the roof panel is first cut in the right place and an opening is created in the roof to fit the air conditioner exactly.

The air conditioner is then fixed in place. The air distributor is connected to the inside of the air conditioner. Then the 230 V power cable is installed. The direction of the air flow can be adjusted individually. Leave the installation of a retrofit vehicle air conditioner to a professional. However, the mobile air conditioner that can be installed under the seat does not require specialist help. If the air conditioning system is not just for cooling, there are now devices with a built-in heat pump. You can even use them to heat your home.

What is the energy consumption of RV Air Conditioners?

This depends largely on the type of appliance. The cooling power of an under-seat air conditioner is 2700 W, which is half of 9200 BTU/h. What do we use this unit for? It shows the energy used by air conditioners. So, when buying an air conditioner, it's worth paying attention to this unit. And the unit is: 1 BTU equals 0.293071 kWh. But if you are buying a roof-mounted air conditioner, make sure it has an energy consumption of 8 A (in eco mode) and a power of 1200 W, and for a parking cooler, it should have an energy consumption of 9.5 A (in eco mode) and a cooling capacity of 2000 W.

The number of watts per unit is 29.2.

What to look out for when maintaining and cleaning retrofitted RV Air Conditioners?

In this case, perhaps one of the most important things is to clean the filters regularly. Why is this necessary? A filter that is too dusty or dirty can reduce the cooling capacity of the air conditioning system. When cleaning, rinse the filter thoroughly under warm water. To ensure the normal and efficient operation of retrofitted vehicle air conditioners, you should also check the integrity of the housing and the condition of the condenser blades.

If you notice that the cover of the caravan's parking cooler is loose or cracked, your air conditioner will not function properly. In addition, it is a good idea to remove any dirt or leaves that may have accumulated on the outside.

But to have a good time on the road, both trucks and motorhomes need to be equipped with a wide range of amenities. What are they? For example, a comfortable bed, a TV set, or perhaps an efficient air conditioning system. You can choose from a wide range in our webshop.
