Duct Tape

Sealing tapes guarantee us safety. That is why this type of tape is now an essential part of a well-stocked toolbox. Electrical tapes are used, among other things, for insulating electrical wiring or colour coding various cables. Because electrical tapes have no electrical conductivity. There are versions that offer reliable protection against voltages of up to 10 000 volts. But insulating tape is also useful outside electrical work. They are used in many areas of life, such as construction and automotive. They also provide mechanical protection Read more...

What type of material is Duct Tape made of?

You can choose between insulating tape made of silicone, PVC or rubber. In each case, the material of the tape is determined by what you want to use it for. Tape made of rubber, i.e. natural rubber, stretches very easily, while PVC or silicone tape can be used for hobby or professional applications.

How long and wide is Duct Tape? Is it available in different sizes?

Electrical tapes can be purchased in different sizes. Depending on the purpose for which you want to use the electrical tape, you can choose between 15, 19, 25, 50 mm wide and 3, 10, 20, 33 metres long tapes.

What is the adhesive strength of the Duct Tape? How secure is its adhesion and for which surfaces is it suitable?

Insulation tapes provide a watertight and airtight covering of the surface to which they are applied. But to ensure good adhesion, it must be applied to a dry, dust-free surface. The tapes available in the DND Telecom webshop can be used between -30 and +100°C, so they can be used almost anywhere. If you need an insulating tape with sufficient flexibility, you can choose a tape that can be stretched up to 500 percent of its original size.

What is the temperature tolerance of the Duct Tape?

As mentioned above, insulating tapes can be used in a wide range of temperatures, from -30 to +100°C.

What can the Duct Tape be used for?

Ensulation tapes can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications. If you want to use this useful tape outdoors, make sure you choose a version that is UV-resistant. If airtight sealing is important for electrical wiring applications, then you will need an airtight sealing tape. But electrical tapes are also used when insulating pipes, in which case make sure you choose a moisture-resistant version.

How easy is it to cut and shape the Duct Tape? What tools are needed?

Ensulation tape is easy to cut to size. All you need is a pair of scissors or any other cutting tool. Make sure that you wrap the cable at least two or three times when insulating a wire, for example. This will ensure a strong, durable insulation.

Does the Duct Tape meet industry standards and safety regulations?

Choose an insulating tape that is UL, CSA and/or VDE certified. Tape from the United States or Canada is UL or CSA certified. In Europe and around the world, VDE certification is one of the most widely accepted. VDE stands for the German Association of Electrical Engineers. It is one of the most experienced testing, certification and inspection agencies in this field. For us users, why do these certificates offer a guarantee?

Because they let us know that the insulating tape we want to buy really has the properties that the manufacturers have indicated on it. Especially for those who work with high voltages, they know that it makes a big difference which tools they use. The safety features of the tapes have been tested and checked by the inspection body in accordance with the standards, guaranteeing us that the insulating tapes with their logo comply with the relevant standards.

The DND Telecom webshop offers a wide range of colours for the Duct Tape, making them ideal for automotive repairs and markings.
