Why is it important to use grounding clamps for coax antenna cables?

To ensure perfect reception, our antenna must be placed at the highest point of the roof of the house. In this case, however, it is exposed to the elements and can be struck by lightning during a thunderstorm. If you don't use an earthing clamp, the coax cable will introduce surges into the indoor satellite receiver unit, which could destroy it.

If you do not want to take this risk, use a grounding clamp on the coax antenna cable. DND Telecom webshop has a wide range of grounding clamps for coaxial cables of different thicknesses. If our customers need any advice or assistance, our webshop customer service is ready to help.

What type of coax antenna cables are suitable for the grounding clamp?

In the DND Telecom webshop you will find grounding clamps for a wide range of coax cables. From RG-58 coaxial cables with a 4.95 mm diameter, to Aircell 7 cables with a 7.3 mm diameter, to Eco Flex 10 or 15 coax cables with a 10.2 mm or 15 mm thickness, meaning you can easily find a suitable grounding clamp for any size. All cables have an impedance of 50 ohms, so there is no difference.

What material is the earthing clamp made of?

The earthing clamp has a solid stainless steel housing with a hinge. It is therefore compact in construction and can be locked with a single screw. The inner part of the structure is made of EPDM synthetic rubber, which is UV-resistant, and the inner contact is made of tin-plated brass.

How resistant is the earthing clamp to corrosion or other damage?

Since stainless steel, EPDM synthetic rubber, and brass are materials that are highly resistant to corrosion or other external damage, the grounding clamps for coax antenna cable available in the DND Telecom web store all provide long-lasting protection even during stormy periods.

How to install the grounding clamp on the coax antenna cable?

Before you start installing the ground clamp, you need to know what tools and equipment you will need. You will need a 5 mm Allen key and a sharp knife. The first step is to open the earthing clamp and use as short a coaxial cable as possible, then clean the wire where the clamp will be placed, i.e. carefully strip the insulation in an area of 26-28 mm.

Then insert the coaxial cable into the grounding clamp, exactly where the outer layer has been stripped off, then seal and tighten the screw. And that's it. It is safe to say that you have installed the ground clamp quickly and efficiently. All that's left to do is to enjoy the many TV channels on offer during the stormy weather.

How does the earth clamp affect the communication between the signal source and the receiving device?

The ground clamp that can be connected to the coaxial cable does not and cannot have any effect on the communication between the signal source and the indoor satellite receiver unit, as it is not connected to the ground clamp or connected to any other device. Therefore, there is no reason to fear that the ground clamp will affect the quality of the television.

What environmental factors can affect the effectiveness of the earth clamp?

The earthing clamps available in the DND Telecom webshop are characterised by their compact design, quick and easy to install. They are weather and water resistant according to IP 68 protection class, providing reliable protection against surges for our equipment, i.e. our antenna system.

Do you need professional help to install an earthing clamp?

There is no need for a professional, the installation of an earthing clamp can be done in a few seconds, with a minimum of manual dexterity. As mentioned above, installation requires a sharp knife and an Allen key, which can be found in almost every household.

We offer grounding clamps suitable for different cable diameters.
