Why is the company called Motorola? The company launched almost its first home-made device, the Motorola car radio, in 1930. The first half of the word, engine, refers to the car, and ola means sound in motion. This catchy name appealed to everyone so much that it eventually became the brand name. The first part of the name, "oil", is the first part of the word "car".
The next major step forward for the brand came in 1943, when the world's first portable FM radio, the SCR300, was introduced. It was a backpack radio that, with a weight of 15.9 kilograms and a range of 16-32 kilometres, became standard equipment for the US Navy. The first radio in the world was the first of its kind in the United States.
When we landed on the moon, we could hear Neil Armstrong's words thanks to Motorola's communications equipment
As the company pioneered the development of a variety of communications devices after World War II, in 1969 Motorola was a major technical force at one of the most defining events of the 20th century. It was the moon landing, when Apollo 11 landed on the moon.
Motorola radio transponders transmitted not only Neil Armstrong's words to Earth, but also telemetry, tracking, biomedical data and television signals. The brand also supplied NASA with a specially designed backpack antenna worn by astronaut Neil Armstrong, as well as equipment for processing TV signals from the ground.
Motorola Solutions was formed in 2011 to manufacture VHF transceivers, analogue and digital radio systems and dispatch centres
Motorola's other world-changing innovations were the DynaTAC mobile phone and a pager that enables two-way communication. However, in the case of the mobile phone, after initial huge successes, a serious decline followed. The brand was unable to keep pace with the development of smartphones.
Motorola Solutions was created from the split of Motorola in 2011. The government and enterprise communications business was transferred to Motorola Solutions, while the manufacturing and sales division for mobile phones, modems and set-top boxes was transferred to Motorola Mobility. Legally, Motorola Solutions is the direct successor to the former giant Motorola Inc.
DND Telecom Ltd has been the brand's importer in Hungary for more than 20 years. We are proud to be a Gold Certified Partner of Motorola Solutions. This is a recognition of the work that DND Telecom Kft has been doing since its establishment.
Our webshop offers the complete transceiver radio portfolio, such as PMR446 walkie-talkie radios, VHF radios and repeaters, headsets, batteries and accessories etc. In addition, we also offer warranty and out-of-warranty repairs in our own service centre, all using genuine factory Motorola parts.
If necessary, we will return the product to the manufacturer for repair/re-testing. Of course, we also do the programming and installation of the devices if our customer requests it. DND Telecom Ltd. does not distribute Motorola Command Center phones, only the transceivers. We would like to announce that as of spring this year, we have expanded our range with Motorola branded phones and baby monitors.
