When to choose a DAB/FM/AM radio antenna?
Devices that receive digital radio channels have better sound quality and are less affected by the weather. In addition, you can receive far more radio stations with these devices than with conventional radios. There are about 1 million radios capable of receiving DAB and DAB+ broadcasts in our country. Ez nem kevés, de azt is érdemes megemlíteni, hogy a napjainkban eladott gépjárművekben szinte már csak ilyen típusú rádiók találhatók.
So, if you have a universal hi-fi that can be connected to an AM/FM/DAB tuner, the best decision is to choose a radio antenna that can receive both analogue and digital channels. These types of antennas have a passive 75 Ohm matched cable antenna and a compatible connection to provide the best possible reception performance. Another feature to look out for is the length of the dipoles, which is about 80 cm each. For proper reception, the length of the connection cable should be about 1.75 m.
What to look out for when buying a FM radio antenna?
If you decide to stick with classic radios, make sure that the radio antenna you choose has a simple installation, an effective wind load and a stable mounting. After all, these antennas should not be mounted on the roof of your car, but on the roof structure of your home. It is also important that the FM radio antenna is made of high quality materials, such as aluminium.
In this case, the radio antenna will be able to withstand the weather effectively. FM radio reception is in the frequency range between 87.5 MHz and 108 MHz. The FM radio antenna will provide excellent sound quality without crackling or discontinuity if it has a gain of 6 dBi and an impedance of 75 Ω. But it's also a final consideration that the model you choose should be lightweight, as the easier it is to pick up at the location where it will eventually be placed. These antennas therefore usually weigh around 1 kg.
