Icom wireless communication devices are all made in Japan
Icom Inc. is one of the companies for which quality has been more important than cost reduction. The company did not move production to countries that would produce its amateur, commercial, marine and aviation radios at lower cost. The brand felt it was essential that its products continued to be labelled "Made in Japan". It therefore kept 100 percent of its manufacturing base in Japan. But production was not only kept in the mainland, it was also significantly improved.
Icom's Arida plant has had an advanced manufacturing system for many years. For example, since 2019, industrial robots have been assembling the communication devices manufactured by the brand. But the company is also involved in a number of collaborations. As early as 2007, it signed a partnership agreement with KDDI, and a few years later the company's management decided to work closely with Ageet and NTT West Japan. But Icom acquired Macrotechnos Co Ltd last year to put even more emphasis on software development within the company.
Icom is a global brand
Icom is known around the world today as a trusted brand dedicated to two-way radio communications. The company's transceivers are used by many professional organisations around the world, including the US Department of Defense. The brand has one of the widest ranges of models in the professional commercial radio market. Icom currently offers both dPMR and NXDN based transceivers, including the so-called dPMR446 transceivers for unlicensed use, as well as professional two-way radio devices for the URH band. Of course, we also offer ATEX versions and analogue and digital licence-free radios.
Icom's worldwide sales and service network
Icom Inc. sells its amateur radios and other wireless communication devices in more than 80 countries around the world. The company focuses not only on sales, but also on service. To this end, the company has a well-established service network. In Hungary, DND Telecom Kft. has been the Hungarian importer of Icom Inc. for more than 20 years. Thanks to this close cooperation, the entire Icom portfolio is available in the DND Telecom webshop, including walkie-talkies, industrial VHF radios, amateur radios, wifi transceivers, radios for aviation and shipping, etc.
At our service centre, we also carry out warranty and out-of-warranty repairs on branded communication devices, all using genuine factory Icom parts of course. If necessary, we return the devices to Icom, where we will carry out the necessary tests and repairs. In addition, we are happy to program and install Icom products.
