After the war, the company continued to develop mercury- and zinc-carbon-based batteries. In the 1960s, the development of many consumer electronics companies was hampered by the lack of adequate energy storage units.

Kodak also struggled with this problem. So it approached the Mallory Company to create a powerful but small battery for its new Instamatic 100 camera. The collaboration was so successful that Duracell was developing batteries for Kodak Instant Film cameras by the mid-1970s. They even produced high-performance lithium-SO2 energy storage batteries for military radios.The company began using the Duracell brand name in the 1960s.

Duracell has always kept pace with the development of electronic equipment

This required new types of batteries. In the early 1980s, Duracell's DL223A, a Li-MnO2-based battery, revolutionised the camera industry by enabling point-and-shoot cameras.

Of course, development at the company never stopped, and this is one of the reasons for its worldwide success. After all, Duracell batteries are found in almost every household. In the 2000s, as many appliances and devices became smaller and smaller, Duracell introduced a new CR2 lithium battery that was thinner and had a longer life. This trend continued into the 2010s, and the brand kept pace with demand.

This led to the development of Duracell Duralock batteries. These mini batteries concealed technology that allowed unused energy storage to retain the energy stored in them for up to ten years. In fact, Duracell Quantum Alkaline batteries lasted even longer with souffle than their predecessors.

Duracell is with us not only on Earth but also in space

The brand has also been involved in the US space programme. In 1963, Duracell was part of the project that took astronaut Gordon Cooper on board the Mercury 9 spacecraft on a 22-orbit flight around the Earth. But that wasn't the end of the collaboration.

They also worked together on the space shuttle.

On July 20, 1969, when the Apollo 11 spacecraft landed on the moon, Duracell batteries were used, and the brand's energy storage units powered the devices that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin left behind at Tranquility Base on the lunar surface. But in 2002, Duracell supplied the lithium batteries for the Columbia space shuttle, which were responsible for powering various tasks.
