Why do we need reversing radar?
According to road safety experts, around 40 percent of all crashes occur while parking or manoeuvring. That's a high number. Unfortunately, this is when the bodywork of the car is more seriously damaged, which can cost hundreds of thousands of forints to repair.
When can reversing radar help when driving?
As we have already mentioned above, reversing radar makes driving safer. For example, because there is much less dead space where objects or obstacles could be in which we or they could damage our vehicle, i.e. obstacles and dangers can be recognised immediately.
Unfortunately, these days, the spaces created by shopping centres and car parks are becoming increasingly confined. Therefore, reversing radar can be very useful when parking in small spaces. Because, if you don't know how far the end of your car is from the wall of the car park, for example, the reversing radar will be there to help you. It even makes manoeuvring easier when you need to get out of a trickier spot.
What types of reversing radar systems are there?
When you want to buy a reversing radar, there are basically two different types to choose from. The first is those in which the camera is connected to a monitor mounted on the dashboard of the car. But there are also reversing camera kits with an LED display that shows how far back you can go.
The LED version is preferable because it's much easier to install in your vehicle, and the number of green and red LEDs and the beeping sound tell you immediately how far back you can go. In addition, the monitor versions don't work so well at night, but the colour and number of LEDs give you a perfect indication of how far you can safely drive, even in the dark.
